These help your body fight germs. If you have too many of them, it could be a sign of inflammation, infection, a medical reaction, or another health condition. If it's low, you could be at a higher risk for infection. A medication, a viral infection, or a bone marrow disease could also cause a low count. Red blood cells (RBC). Upon arrest, Hickock made a full confession, pinning the murders on Smith. Smith refused to confess until he learned that Hickock had told police a story Smith himself had told to Hickock in confidence during their brief time as cellmates in prison. Smith then confessed to the crime, matching Hickock's story closely until he claimed that Hickock killed Nancy and Bonnie. Smith would later try to retract this part of his confession. Hickock and Smith were put on trial for the murders of the Clutter family in the spring of 1960. After their conviction, Hickock and Smith were taken to the Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth County, Kansas, to await their execution. The executions were delayed multiple times as Hickock wrote to, and finally convinced, a few lawyers that their trial was unconstitutional and to fight for a new one. Once all their appeals were denied, however, Hickock and Smith were hung on April 14, 1965.
He views killing as fun and feels no regret. He even wishes he could have killed more people. Dick Hickock, Persons Unknown, Page 143 "I think the main reason I went there was not to rob them but to rape the girl... I thought about it alot. But Perry never gave me a chance" Dick is a disgusting person with no morals at all. He went there only to rape Nancy. He says Perry never gave him a chance with mourning, like he missed out on something amazing. Dick proves something though, Perry never let Dick rape her, Perry is more sensible and while he did murder the family, he still had morals and would not stand for Dick's decisions. Dick Hickock, The Corner, Page 278 "Around here... locks and bolts are the fastest-going item. Folks ain't particular what brand they buy; they just want them to hold" The murders set the whole town into a hysteria. It went from a town where nobody locked their doors and everybody trusted each other to everyone suspecting each other for the murders. Nobody felt safe anymore.
